Horizon Europe is the new European research and innovation Framework Programme, for the period 2021-2027. A major novelty of it is the European Innovation Council (EIC), which will have two components: the EIC Pathfinder and the EIC Accelerator. The EIC Pathfinder focuses on technological breakthroughs that can become the basis for disruptive and market-creating innovation in the future. It has Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) as an integral part and it will pave the way for the science-technology-innovation triple helix. Under Horizon 2020, an EIC pilot has been launched in 2019.
This one-day event focuses on the EIC Pathfinder. It builds on the legacy and success of the FET programme and identifies the future challenges of the EIC Pathfinder. Now that Horizon Europe is gradually taking shape, this is a timely opportunity to debate how the EIC can meet its main aim: that of bridging from science to technology and innovation.
Policy- and decision-makers, scientists, researchers, innovators, early stage investors (e.g. business angels) and opinion-shaping actors are welcome to join this high-level conference. The event is co-organised by the European Commission’s DG CONNECT (Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology) and DG RTD (Directorate-General for Research and Innovation), as part of the EIC event (19, 20 & 21 June 2019) and the Innovative Enterprise Week, in the broader context of the Romanian Presidency of the EU.
